Murray joined Pitcher Partners in 2020 following over 20 years of experience with a Big Four firm. Throughout his career, Murray has worked with numerous listed and privately-owned companies across various industries, including professional services, engineering and mining, property development, building and construction, manufacturing, and retail.
Using the technical expertise he has developed, Murray works with the owners and leaders of some of Brisbane’s most prominent middle-market businesses. He works with companies on complex restructure and sale transactions, comprehensive ATO audits and reviews, providing briefs to legal counsel, preparation of expert opinions, private ruling requests, and reasonably arguable position papers.
Taking the time to fully understand the people behind middle-market businesses, Murray’s clients value his ability to provide commercial and pragmatic advice on business, governance, and taxation issues. Beyond his technical expertise, Murray’s genuine care and interest in the people he works with ensures he builds strong working relationships with his clients. Most importantly, Murray is a trusted listening ear and sounding board for business owners as they navigate the ups and downs of running a business.
As a continuous learner and analytical thinker, Murray has a keen interest in researching, writing and presenting on taxation developments. Earlier in his career, Murray volunteered on the Taxation Institute of Australia’s education committee and authored and presented numerous papers to the industry. Today, Murray enjoys presenting to clients and industry groups around the taxation developments that impact their businesses.
No matter what stage of maturity a middle-market business is in, Murray helps people achieve the best outcome, taking into consideration their current and future objectives across the business and its other associated financial structures.
Murray became a partner of the Brisbane firm in 2021.
