Michael has extensive experience in delivering strategic tax advisory services to private businesses and high net worth individuals. He specialises predominantly in the property industry, including working with developers, investors and builders, but has built up experience across a broad range of industries.
Clients rely on Michael to protect their interests and act selflessly on their behalf. As a trusted advisor to family groups, he considers the transition of wealth across generations, offering advice around succession and estate planning.
Michael was a key player in building the firm’s offering in estate planning and family office, and has contributed to the steady growth of the tax practice over time. Today, he heads up Pitcher Partners’ estate planning practice. No two days in tax are alike, and Michael enjoys tackling new challenges for clients, and sharing his expertise with up-and-coming junior colleagues.
Having a deep understanding of tax laws is a given in Michael’s role – but it’s his ability to apply those laws in a pragmatic, commercial and business-like way that gives clients the outcomes they are seeking. He builds strong relationships with business owners over time, and finds it rewarding to be involved in strategic decision making that has a direct impact on what they do, and how they do it.
Michael joined Pitcher Partners soon after its inception, in 1994. He was attracted to the nature of the work on offer with a middle market and family client base, which offered the chance to be hands-on and in direct contact with business owners. He became a partner in 2000.
