Gavin specialises in providing advice and assistance to private business, working closely with owner-managers. He has extensive hands-on experience in a variety of technical and commercial issues affecting clients on a day-to-day basis and advises on the structuring and growth of their businesses.
Pitcher Partners has always championed the needs of the middle market, and Gavin heads up the firm’s Business Radar project which gauges the state of this sector in Australia. Working with an independent research agency, he has led a team in interviewing middle market business owners across the country, and presented key findings that drive new insight in order to advocate for this group’s unique needs.
Gavin also has a passion for the property sector. He is member of the firm’s Property and Development industry group and has a large client base in this area.
With a warm and engaging approach, Gavin immediately establishes an affinity with clients. Family owned businesses often seek out an advisor with whom they can share a personal connection: someone who understands what it takes for them to be successful whilst balancing the family dynamic. As a partner he holds deep technical expertise, but it is his ability to frame business challenges and opportunities in a language and context familiar to clients that makes him so successful.
Gavin has always been driven to get outside his comfort zone and expand his expertise and experience. A gap year in Japan saw him teaching English, while closer to home he was part of the first cohort to undertake a qualification through the Pitcher Partners Institution of Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
Gavin joined Pitcher Partners in 1998, and was admitted to the Melbourne partnership in 2011.
