About the team
The dynamic Tax Advisory Group (‘TAG’) is a team of highly qualified tax professionals who together deliver value adding tax advisory services to their clients, covering the complete tax spectrum, from individuals to multinational enterprises, with particular focus on the middle market sector of the Australian economy. With longstanding institutional relationships with the ATO, the team is also able to advocate for effective tax legislation that benefits all its clients.
The State Taxes team is a cohesive unit within the broader Tax Advisory practice, specialising in Land Tax, Stamp Duty, and other property-related taxes. Embracing our “one firm” approach, we encourage collaboration across practice teams to deliver the best outcomes for our clients.
About the role
As a Senior Analyst, Assistant Manager or Manager in the State Taxes team of our Tax Advisory practice, you will provide technical and commercially focused advice to a diverse range of clients across all states and territories of Australia, centred on Stamp Duty, Land Tax and other associated property taxes.
Key responsibilities
- Providing technically accurate, commercially focused and tailored advice and solutions to clients and internal stakeholders
- Preparing private ruling applications, objections correspondence, lodgements and relief applications
- Handling investigations and other compliance activities undertaken by various revenue offices and dealing with disputes with revenue offices
- Building and managing client relationships and collaborating with internal stakeholders
- Active involvement with the delivery of internal and external training and business development initiatives
Who we’re after

- Law and/or accounting degree, with experience in state taxes (i.e. stamp duty, land tax, windfall gains tax), or in a different area which requires interpretation of legislation.
- You are commercially focused, you think strategically, and can work either work autonomously or collaboratively in a team.
- You have strong legislative interpretation skills and can craft well written, accurate and practical pieces of advice.
