Welcome to the December 2022 Investment news.
It has been a roller-coaster ride for investors and advisers alike this past year, as markets and Central Banks around the world came to the realisation inflation was not just a short term (transitory) impact of COVID and was going to require significant interest rate increases to bring it under control.
The impact on markets was dramatic in the first half of the year, with steep declines across all asset classes particularly in June. However, this was followed by a strong bounce back on the thesis inflation was peaking, and interest rate rises would slow.
We remain cautious of this renewed optimism, as we believe the impact on company earnings of higher input costs and interest rates is yet to be played out.
This sets us up for another challenging year ahead, but we remain confident in navigating this environment, thanks to the high-quality research and economic insights from Pitcher Partners Investment Services in Melbourne (a separate business).
As the year draws to a close, it is a time of reflection, and from a business perspective the team are proud of what we have achieved in 2022. Pitcher Partners Wealth WA continues to grow its specialist capabilities, capacity, and team, and we were delighted to have had Leanne Martinez join us this year. Leanne’s strategic/financial planning focus deepens this capacity in the business and compliments Robert and Simon’s Investment focus and Guy’s personal insurance specialty.
We would like to thank our support team, Rebekah and Jackson, who continue their rapid development and positively contribute to the great culture of the business. We also thank the broader Pitcher Partners business for their partnership and support.
On behalf of the Pitcher Partners Wealth WA team, we would like to wish you all a fantastic and safe festive season. To our clients, partners, and friends, thank you for continued support and trust you place in us. We look forward to our continued relationship in 2023.

Pitcher Partners Investment Services – Markets in review Q3
Whilst markets are staging a rally late into the year, 2022 has undeniably been a challenging year for investors. Inflation has proved to be far more pervasive and stickier than what central banks believed less than 12 months ago, forcing many central banks to dramatically increase interest rates to try and address these pricing pressures.
