Our story
We’ve always been about people. And we’ve always known that great relationships lead to better results. And sometimes the best results come from doing things a little differently. Differently like starting Australia’s first new professional services firm in over 20 years. In the middle of a recession.
In the early 90s, this approach was pretty bold and it led to the foundation of a different kind of firm.
In 1991, our 14 founding partners and 142 staff departed a Big Four accounting firm on a mission to offer their middle market clients a more personalised service. They were accountants, so naturally this departure was quite orderly and sensible. But it changed the Australian accounting landscape forever.
Clients at the centre
With a new firm, came a renewed focus. Now able to provide the level of attention they knew their clients deserved, the group formed Pitcher Partners — a firm grounded in fostering great client relationships. By getting to know our clients better, we could understand more about their business and find better opportunities.
Driven by relationships
It worked. Despite launching at the height of an economic recession, we lost no clients, won a few, and quickly found our niche delivering value through our deep understanding of the middle market. Ever since then, our unwavering focus on deep, constructive relationships and fearless advice continues to drive our clients’ success. And our reputation.
Keeping things personal
Today, we’re one of the top 10 accounting, audit and business advisory firms in Australia. And while we’re much bigger, we’re just as eager today to have those frank and open conversations as we were on day one. We want to help you make the most of your ambition.
